reamping trouble

recorded a band this weekend, guitars and drums live together. to prevent bleeding and make it all easier i decided to record the guitars clean from a di, so i could reamp later and make it sit(which i've done a bit at home quite easy with reasonably good results).

however, it sounds nothing like what i've done at home before.. i wonder what may be the reason for this, i just get a really muddy rumbly tone with little definition. i run a pod without speaker sims into some impulses in sir (tried a bunch, all the same, to a certain extent). can it be the pickups they're using? or sucky preamps in? (borrowed a studio by their rehersal place). thought it might have been because of a poor di (behringer di100), but i've used the same at home without much trouble. Both have passive pickups (my guitar is a peavey wolfgang, his is an ltd with apc pickups, so shouldnt be problems with the definition there).

i'm basically clueless here. it will sit in the mix and be decent for a live demo, but i dont want to run into this again!

edit: problem solved. just realized how much difference it makes using pristine space instead of sir. yes sir!

edit2: no, definetly still a problem here, even tho it sounded alot better with pristine. now, it seems no other plugs does any effect in the insert section (cubase sx2), i've put up eq's with cut ALL OVER the place, and there is no difference. but load pristine or sir on there and it makes a difference. i'm really not getting this!!

thanks for the help! no ideas? i'll se if i can get the time to squeeze some clips out so you can see what i mean

How did you monitor the guitars during the recording? What did they sound like? Was the volume or tone out of whack?

What does the DI track sound like?

You've gotta give some clips.
