Reamping with direct guitar preamp track (instead of DI)

I've been using impulses for a while, but I'd like to try running my dry preamp tracks through a power amp & cab. Obviously DI tracks are most ideal, but I didn't record any for this particular track (stupid me).

Since the preamp puts out line level, I assume the power amp "wouldn't know the difference" between signal from my interface vs signal from a guitar pre.

Has anyone done this?

I done this way before conventional reamping.
But check levels - maybe you have to amplify your signal by 6 db to get same level.
So I did not get any problems that way - only unable to change pre settings
