Reaper 4 is out

Speaking of Adam's mods...... will installing reaper 4 over top of my current install change or get rid any of those important customizations?

EDIT: Just saw the above posts. Adam, is there anyway to download the updated version of your mods?

My version works perfectly fine, nothing to figure out here, but I've been changing stuff through the whole alpha and beta process to keep up for my own work.

What about the delete exactly doesn't work? I'm not even using a macro, just this:

For me, the rightclick-drag marquee selection no longer selects both time and items, so I can't make a time selection, hit backspace and have it delete chunks from multiple items any more.
The relevent preferences are different in version 4, I've tried but can't get it to behave like it did in version 3. That's pretty much the only thing that's not working

With Reaper 4 I can now click one toolbar button to enter "Drum Editing Mode" where I can edit with just my hand on the mouse, drinking beer or jerking off with my left hand the entire time.

One handed one button drum editing ftw.

Can you make a video of that while jerking off with your left hand?

EDIT: Fuck, now every time I see a Mac window in a screenshot I get GASed as FUCK!

You have to set up your mouse modifiers, most of those prefs are deprecated now:

My mods are system specific for me right now with random other useless shit everywhere and unfinished crap, I'll post something clean in a week or so when I have time!

Cool. Thanks, man. I got accustomed to using your version and I'm kinda afraid installing reaper 4 will screw some of that up with all of the changes, new tool bar stuff, etc.

They're fixing this for next update:
+ Count-in: follow tempo and time signature at play start position, not prior to it
+ Envelopes: option to add transition point when recording automation while playback is stopped
+ Mouse modifiers: control+right-click creates a time selection by default (as in 3.x)
+ Stem rendering: faster, does not process irrelevant tracks, option in prefs/rendering for old behavior

Fucking AWESOME.

Hells yeah. Really happy about the Count-in.

Adam, how can you edit with one mouse button ? You need two things :
- cut
- slip drag
How do you define the difference between them ? Double clic to cut, simple clic to drag ?

+1 for what erik said : I recently went into its macro and created my own ones. I love the one I have created for "F" :
- stop recording/delete the recorded file
- record

So when i'm not happy about my take, I hit F and it starts again (and clean). I used that to record my bass this week, it made the process so easy. All daws must be able to do so, but it's just one example, and if I wanted it to show me a different porn movie each time I hit F, I'm sure it could almost do it with some tweaking.

I would just love a feature that, if I'm right, is a protools one : it should record all the time in a buffer, and if you play something that you're happy with, you can get that tak backward in time because it was stored in a buffer, even if you didn't hit record.

Would solve the "fuuuu" moment when you recorded the solo take of your life and discovered you hit play instead of record. Or when you wanna record 3 notes a very precise way : you play them until you did a nice take, and you go get this one in your buffer, and copy paste it.

Nope, single click to cut, drag to slip. A single click happens on mouse up, not mouse down, so if you click and drag it doesn't cut, it only cuts when you release the mouse button and Reaper notices that you didn't move the mouse at all while the button was pressed.

Click splits, drag slips, drag a crossfade moves the crossfade. If I need to suspend grouping I just grab option+command briefly, then back to pullin' it. Gold Jerry, gold.

Wish I could have had an option for not using the count in using the meter from the previous bar - its fucking annoying punching in projects two bars later just because you want a proper time signature roll in.

i saw this and posted it a couple of days ago on the reaper 4.01 thread of their forum and...

v4.02pre1 - August 5 2011

+ Envelopes: option to add transition point when recording automation while playback is stopped

you just have to love reaper >.<

Got 4.0 installed and noticed that the meters are not synced up with the sound. For instance, the meter will spike a second after the hit. What gives?

Installed 4 two days ago. In about 16 hours of editing I Had a bunch of actions stop working, crashes and BSODs. (64bit version on 64 bit Win 7 with 64 bit version of SWS)

I really dislike what they've done with the floating toolbars. Also when I've got my slice tool armed sometimes clicking on the ruler to move the cursor will cut across all tracks (worst case), or the playhead will not visually move (bug?) not how it used to work.

I guess I'll go back to V3 32bit for a while.

The count-in stuff finally!!!!! God, that is beautiful.
Any of you guys know if Reaper records prior to when you hit the Record button?? It was a nice option back when I used Cubase 3.
