Reaper Beta

Yeah, I saw that......but I'm not really sure what it means lol, care to explain Mutant?

It means that you don't have to open MIDI editor window to change notes.

You can do it from the main screen on multiple midi tracks at the same time.

The lack of an inline MIDI editing was one of the bigger shortcomings of Reaper.

probably the coolest new feature is the ability to assign parameters to the track mixers... Say you want a certain eq's gain to show up..you can check the parameter off in a list and a little knob that controls it will be put into the tracks side mixer....so awesome!

also tabbed projecst are cool..you can open different projects and they show up in tabs that you can flip back and forth, chain togehter..copy between...

automation can put put in lanes ala Cubase now too...

But the real question is, how is the workflow efficiency compared to PT when editing? (c'mon you knew that one was coming).

That's something you can probably only find out for yourself. I mean, there are even people out there being comfortable mixing with a dildo in their ass. ;)

I personally think it's still very hard to beat PT as far as editing goes, but it's very nice to see Reaper making significant steps further to DAWorld domination.

I don't like what I'm hearing about Reaper, like that thread about latency and mixing, delay compensation etc. Reaper mistriggering stuff because you increase latency? What's up with that :|

Oh well, if it's true, hope they fix that too. Can't have major crappy bugs like that in a DAW!

I've never had any problems with Drumagog mistriggering in Reaper even when I have to increase latency to stop those digital pops you get when you have too much going on with too low a latency.

I downloaded this and gave it a try. Tossed on 8 tracks and recorded some drums, and dorked with it. Not bad.

I found the grouping functions a bit confusing though, after years of using Cubase.

Overall damn sweet piece of software for a tiny piece of shareware.

I like the new beta a lot! It looks much better and I'm really digging the new features. Spent some time mixing on it the other day and like it a lot...

so i tried out the mac version briefly; and can confirm it IS a ripoff of sony vegas,
even the shortcuts are the same,
its horrible.
horrible horrible horrible

Just downloaded it.
Looks much better so far, but my main irk with reaper is still present.
When adding an insert, I like a big list popping up, like in Nuendo/Cubase and then you just click the plugin you want and it appears in its own window. Don't like this whole categories thing.

I guess I just like dildos.

Dude, that is such a petty complaint, you'll deal :D

I know it comes off that way, but for me it feels like a huge deal.

Cubendo's whole side panel thing on the left hand side where you can choose the inserts, eq, sends, fader all from one place are what ties it together so well for me
then the fact that you just choose your insert from that list sorta just
ties it all together for me

its not the big things that seem to affect me when moving from DAW to DAW, but the little things.
