Reaper Beta

I know it comes off that way, but for me it feels like a huge deal.

Cubendo's whole side panel thing on the left hand side where you can choose the inserts, eq, sends, fader all from one place are what ties it together so well for me
then the fact that you just choose your insert from that list sorta just
ties it all together for me

its not the big things that seem to affect me when moving from DAW to DAW, but the little things.

+1

and you can turn it off!

Well that's why you can save FX chains in Reaper for your most commonly-opened plugin sets (e.g. I have an FX chain of TSS/SoloC/Boogex with all the settings/impulses loaded), and the best way to deal with the mixer IMO is to detach it from the bottom, make it large enough to fill the whole window, then toggle between it (I think the default shortcut is Ctrl-M, but I use Ctrl-= so it's like PT) And there's always the FX button on each track...

But really, IMO FX chains will solve all your woes! Observe...

The way I see it is, there are many quick and effective ways to get to the same result; I think you'll find that with practice and learning, you'll be able to do everything you were able to do in Cubendo as fast if not faster in Reaper, you just may need to force yourself to get used to doing it another way. Of course, the next question is, why bother when you're content with Cubendo, and the answer is, CUZ REAPER IS 50 FUCKING DOLLARS :D

I'll be giving Reaper another shot :)

+1 Here, the cluttered GUI was a turn off for me

*Update

Alright, i'm toying around with the reaper beta and i'm reallly really enjoying it.

Does anyone know if the mixing engine is of the same quality as cubendo ?

Methinks i'm going to record my bands next LP in this contraption

I recently tried the Reaper beta 3. It is awesome!!! Im loving it, and willing to put up with things being different from how i "used" to do them. I imported raw wav files from a session i tracked in Sonar. Then closed that and opened Reaper, and right off the bat, the same wavs sounded better. There a buncha reasons I like Reaper. I tried it before, and didnt like it. It was a 2.xx version. The Beta 3 is AWESOME.

Hey Metaltastic, I laughed my asshole off when you said "Fagatronics" in that video btw. I agree that FX Chains are awesome!

And I'm pretty certain that whole "mix engine" nonsense creating a sound difference between DAW's is a load of poopie

Well I was actually responding to what xFKx said in his edit about how the mix engine compares with cubendo; I'm not doubting your experience, but it probably has more to do with the pan law or some other settings!
