Recommend a Head for Guitar Solos

I wouldn't use an 800 TBH. The weight on the single notes doesn't really do it for me unless it's modded.

I'd say Ecstasy or SLO as well. The Mark IV is a great amp, but just for leads. I've used it for leads on the last five projects I've done up until it was sold.

E-mail me Dean, we'll talk.

thanks mate - will do

I've not used one myself, but having listened to a TON of clips and video's I bet one of those Jet City heads would be great for lead stuff.

Marshall DSL would certainly get the job done, as would the JVM.

if its just for leads go for a soldano avenger and save 1k. Its the same circuit at a SLO but 1 channel, You can find them used for 1200$ish i've seen one as low as 900$.
Soldano avenger or SLO would be my choice!

+1

XTC has the fattest lead tone out of any amp I've used. Still got a raw SM57 track up from a project I recorded as a student with one 5 years ago if you want, Dean. No lead tone I've had since has compared.

SLO is a good in-between. It's fat but cuts too. Tends to be strong around 2k and 500hz.

Mark IV should be a fairly familiar character on here. I don't like it for rhythms at all though, so it's a one-trick pony for me, and quite a costly one over here to boot.

I'll add the JVM410 into the mix here too, as I just got one and it kills on leads. Hard to describe the character, but you can hear it on the leads on the latest Naberus CD I did.

Hard to go wrong with any of these 4.
