That's right. Easy. Recommend me some fucking metal.

Few conditions:

1. I'm not fussy over what genre, but I'd rather not have any Funeral Doom, thrashy black, symphonic black or death/black crossover recs. If you think they're really worth it, then go ahead anyway.
No folk metal as well. I guess I am fussy.

2. Try not to recommend me something I'm likely to already know about. Obviously you can't know everything I've heard, so take a look at my Last.fm if you want to gauge my metal exsposure.

That's it really, now get to it.

Edit:
3. Specific albums would be nice

:danceboy: :kickass: :erk:

Sure thing. They're one of my favorites, so I gotta mention them.

Other bands I'd also mention:
Hollenthon (symphonic black metal) "With Vilest of Worms to Dwell," "Opus Magnum"
Ancient Rites (black/folk metal) "The Diabolic Serenades," "Fatherland," "Dim Carcosa," "Rubicon"

Oh crap, thanks for reminding me, I really can't stand folk metal. i'll go add it to the conditions.
Not a fan of symphonic black as well.
Sorry, I forgot about those genres, kinda spoils your recs.

I've heard those two anyway, wasn't the biggest fan.
Cheers for making the effort though.

Alright dude, no prob. I'm a symphonic/folk black metal nut, so I'll probably refrain from posting more; most of my tastes have those elements in them. Cheers indeed!

so KILLB, given your conditions...you looking for classic power metal, maybe epic, progressive?
If so, newbies or ones that I have came across;

-Hibria "defying the rules" (classic style / prog-power)
-Pyramaze "legend of the bone carver" latest "immortal" (epic / power)
-Communic "waves of visual decay" latest "payment of existence" (pretty much all styles)
-Olympos Mons "medievil" (power / epic / battle)
-Manitou "no signs of wisdom" (classic style / power metal)

I knew you would...you got taste!;)

I really don't know which release I'm anticipating more...Communics or Pyramazes?:kickass:

Good stuff BELLIG.
Not as big a black death guy as some... but those aren't bad. I guess its the vocals, (common-I know) but the music does appeals at times.

Are you familiar with Scarpoint? They are a hardcore / groove / black metal band...and about as far as I will tolerate for vocals.
They are heavy as hell, thought you may like em?

:kickass: Yeah I definitely recommend that Thurisaz Circadian Rhythm. They blend Progressive/Folk/Black/Death so effortlessly.

And I've never heard of Scarpoint but I'll check em'out.
EDIT: just checked them out. Not my thing. Too Meshuggah-like for me.

Well, I say Pyramaze, but I've known them longer. I'll need to get into Communic more.

A few bands I've been digging recently that you might want to check out.

Thurisaz are great, from what I've heard. Too bad they're overshadowed by Turisas. They deserve more recognition.

lol same here.

Yeah bro, symphonic/folk metal rules! :headbang:

Thrashy-ish black metal, think one of the 1349 guitarists plays with them. I love the Sorrow and Infinite Darkness album, the top 2 songs are taken from it although sadly my favourite (Watchtowers of the Universe) isn't on there.

One of the best black metal bands in the world, they're pretty melodic in places, kinda similar to Dissection I guess. Listen to the song 'In Su La Vetta' on their myspace. Non Dvcor, Dvco and Magnificat are excellent albums with basically no bad/boring songs.

Kinda unique band, don't really know of any others that sound like them, I don't really listen to any funeral doom but it seems like in some ways they could be kinda similar. The music is a mix of ambient/shoegaze/wall of soundy/doomy/depressing stuff or something. Coma Waering is probably my favourite album, it's great for sleeping or reading to (they're the only band that I have noticed to affect my dreams consistently).

I agree. I think sometimes when people search for Thurisaz they find Turisas and mistake the latter for the former. But both acts are great; so it's kind of a win-win scenario.
