Hey guys

I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on where to go to get my bands new album mixed.

Our management has tried setting us up with a few studios but they've all fallen through. We're looking to have it recorded and mixed by the end of April.

I'm not sure how many of you guys on here would take on a project like this or not. Here are the details of what we're looking for:

We are DI'ing guitars and bass to be re-amped. We were going to get this done separately and then send all tracks to whoever we get to mix album, but if we can get someone that can do both the re-amping and mixing that would be good.

There will be 9 songs on the album. Quad tracked rhythms plus leads, some acoustic parts etc. Keyboards are also a big part of our sound. Clean Vocals and programmed drums.

We are a metal band and you can hear a pre production recording that we did of one of the songs that will be on the album by clicking the link in my signature.

So if anyone has any recommendations of some good studios to go to that are affordable, please comment, and if you're interested in this yourself, please PM me with some details of yourself and a link to where we can hear some samples of your work.

Thanks everyone.

I can't say enough good things about Jacob Hansen's work, he's our go to guy - I can't see us wanting anyone else to work on our albums from now on.

Ya, our management recommended him as well as he does a lot of bands that are on our management, but apparently you have to book like 10 months in advance and we need to be done by end of April/beginning of May at the latest.

Plus our management said he's EXTREMELY expensive. His mixes sound great though.

I'll be checking my PM's. Thanks guys for the interest. I'll be getting back to you guys

hey man, Lasse's the guy, he's producing/mixing our new album, and since we're in the PP scene with you guys I think you can guess he'll make ya sound good. Check out the stuff from our first album, he mixed that and James Murphy did the reamping/mastering. Lasse's doing the whole shebang this time though. The first album from a mix standpoint was a save job, it wasn't intended to be our "album" (pre-production) but it ended up being the real deal.

Gareth's in need of projects and he can deliver quality work for cheaper than most of the guys here.
Ermz' mixes are phenomenal though, same goes for Lasse, depends what you're after.

Lolzgreg can reamp guitars with crushing tone if needed.

Oh, forgot Glenn, great mixes too! And he's nearer.

Hey guys, thanks everyone for responding to this thread. I think we have found a studio that is only a 40 minute drive from us that was recommended to me by AdamWathan on this forum on the first day I made this thread. So thanks a lot everyone.

Scratch that. That studio is booked up till June so we're back on the prowl. We've never sent our music off to be mixed without us there to help produce it before so we're kinda in the dark on how this whole process works. Any info on how you guys will work things from your end will really help us make a decision on what studio will produce the right sound for our music. Thanks alot guys!

Well Sean you ultimately start by defining the role that this person will take on in your project. If your tracks have already been produced and recorded, then you ultimately just want somebody to mix engineer your project. In this case it's usually as simple as defining what sort of sonic aspirations you have for the record, what references you are drawing from, then sending the tracks over and waiting to see what comes back. Everybody will ultimately have their own spin on the sound of your project, so it's important to find somebody who you feel is capable of delivering the results you're after. The best you can do is load them up with as much information and background as possible to help them deliver what you want.
