In one of Miss May I's studio videos, the bass player says that when they were recording their first album, he didn't track any bass parts at all. Does this mean that the bass part was recreated using a plug-in?

I have found that, more often than not, the bass player in a band is the friend of the girlfriend of the guitar player that "used to play a little bit of acoustic guitar" so they stick him on bass because bass is underappreciated and disrespected as a whole in almost all heavy genres of music, lol.

so one of the guitar players tracks bass on the record.

just a trend I have noticed, not saying that's what happened with MMI.

God I hate that, as dare I say it a well trained bass player, it just pisses me off that so many bands have such terrible bassists, I hate feeling that a lot of the time an album is just missing an extra layer of awesome because the bass player is doing fuck all
