i was wondering does anybody out there know of any good books or sources for learning new techniques in recording metal? ive read alot of posts on here and i just wanna keep learning

thanks

for me the best book i ever read must be by this aussie guy: Mixing with your mind.
Like it because it goes a lot deeper into recording and mixing than most...

You can order it directly from his site, i did and received it in under 10 days (from Australia to Belgium).

I also like a the art of mixing by David Gibson. Theres also a DVD availble which covers the same things as the book. It's made in the early 90's so it has some pretty hilarious visuals (really hi tech )

Yep. Stavs book is the shit. Also, if you have questions he answers them via email, very often within 24h. At least he did with my questions. The thing is, though: both books are more geared towards the advanced mixer, who knows the basics.

As always, for me Bobby Owsinski's book is the number 1 thing to start with for beginners.

Modern recording techniques and behind the glass are my 2 favorites.

Edit: also read "acoustic drums for metal:a guide" by oz and "that clayman sound" threads in the production tips section those two threads helped me immensely.
