Recording Musician-types!

You can't beat a CPU + software.

If you need hardware, the Zoom H4 is a great field recorder and 4 track (and cheap as fuck here), and includes guitar amp models, direct inputs. I use, and love, mine. No drum machine though.

There are surely other units, but I can't comment further.

After a fuck ton of research I went with the Boss BR-600 for $300. I love everything about it except the high gain guitar tones. It has a riduculous amount of virtual tracks, loop effects, tons of different voice and guitar tones, bass simulator, acoustic simulator, pitch correction, built in drum programmer "the drums sound great", and much much more.

Check it out mang.

Digital Audio Workstations such as Cubase are the way to go. There are tons of amp simulators and effects software that it has made recording very convenient. I used to have a 4-track recorder, but I lost it. I think my friend from middle school still has it
