In order to use the impulses I need to record the sound from PodXT unprocessed by cab simulation, right? But I'd like to hear the 'cabbed' sound while tracking, to have a better feeling when I play... That harsh sound without the cab sim is really painful to listen to. :)

Is it possible to achieve that somehow without listening through ASIO at low latency and all that?

try voxengo boogex for your impulse files, it has almost no latency, so you can use it while monitoring.

I only use the cab sim on it, you can easily turn of the guitaramp part of it by letting the high and low-pass filters cross eachother (not how it's ment to work), and then then turn up the "dry before cab" signal .

Get a DI box like the J48, it's better for DI guitar tracks than PodXT anyways. Use the output to your mic pre and the thru to your PodXT to another mic pre and monitor that input so that theirs no latency.
