i had the guitarport and used to record from the out of it into my board. does anyone else do this? or is it all DI for you guys? i am interested in doing it like that for the ability to manipulate the tone after the recording.

ok sweet, and does the DI box make too much of a difference? like i have a tascam 1884 and the 8th preamp has the line mic setting which i can use for DI but is it good enough or is there a better one i should be getting?

the di makes all the difference in the world... just like player/strings/pups/preamp etc. etc. etc.

type 85 (countryman) is a staple in recording.

it is a matter of opinion but i have several and will probably only ever use the 85.

I have the 85 but I also use the DI on my ensemble. Honestly, if you can't get your guitars sounding good without the high end DI then you should spend time perfecting your eq'ing and limiting before you spend money on the DI. The high end DI is going to make a very minimal difference in a complete mix. JMHO.

no i have the recording interface its a tascam 1884 board firewire interface, i have the guitar port to enable pod farm i used to record from guitar port out into my board and get an ok tone but wanted the flexibility of DI and pod farm plugin into my DAW(logic)
