Anyone buy this and have an opinion? Heard the tracking one wasn't too great. If it sucks, has anyone else made something similar for metal? I'm kind of amazed no one on here has yet.

There was a thread on here about it before, the gist of it being that it's pretty good. He doesn't say spoon feed you much info but you can pick up lots in the details.

Both DVD's are great!!! Every time I watch it all over again I hear / see something new...It felt like i was actually there hah!

Random aside, has anyone checked out this book? Apparently it comes with sessions on a cd to follow along with, sounds like it might be helpful.

^Thanks. Is the Baressi DVD helpful if you work totally in the box though? Seems like he uses nothing but analog gear

Joe use some plugin as well;)

But to answer your question, the whole thing behind the mixing dvd isn't what he use but how he use it.
Many great thing about multing...etc.
You can do the same ITB with plugin. You will not get same color as some hardware piece, but you can get equally as good thing.
At the end same Technic apply ITB or OTB.

Every choice he made are explained (why he choose to mult is drum to stereo comp instead of mono, what this bring to the mix...etc). He cover everything from session prep to monitor, layout... A/B for each track (before/after).
His plan for the mix section by section...etc

And of course PT session come with the dvd:D

Need to add:

I work hybrid (PT with some hardware insert) but also on SSL (4K, 6K and J), I've visited many studio during session so lot of thing aren't new for me in the mixing dvd. But beside that I learned some cool thing watching it, but also that gave me many idea to try...
