Seems like a lot of churches have rock bands nowadays, but I thought one of the tenets of rock n' roll was to scare churchies, not be one. I've been hanging around music forums a bit lately and it seems that like 32.867% of e-musicians play with their god damn church band.

I don't get it.

I like it, not only because I am serving God and the church, but I'm playing tastey music and don't have to deal with that bar/club scene. I just had enough of that a while ago, plus I'd rather play from 8-11am Sunday morning instead of 10pm-2am Saturday night. But that's just me.

The first service I attended at our church, they opened with a Metallica song. I wondered if I was in the right place, but as the service went on I found that the song related to the topic they were speaking on. I found it to be a refreshing approach. I ended up playing Kiss, Twisted Sister, Rolling Stones, Bowie and P.O.D among others. Great way to serve in my opinion, and a great way to relate to people who might not otherwise come into a church.

There have been a few times that we broke into "Alll along the Watchtower" in the middle of a worship song...
Eh, maybe I'm just a dick.
