Rocklahoma '08 Main Stage Lineup

I drove from Chicago last year 5hrs to check House of Lords in Cinc, OH, they put on a great show. Looking foward to their US tour for their new cd.

That's cool! I'd like to see them live sometime. They've not really missed a beat over the years.

By the way, is your screen name a reference to the band D.A.D.? That's always made me curious.

~Brian~

Well damn, looks like I'll be hanging out at "the other stage"!!!!! :loco:

Whitesnake would ensure my attendance. With Triumph, Vain, MindFlow, Krucible, and Deathriders, it's pretty much a sure thing already.

I just decided, I'm going to make this happen! I'd be stupid to miss this! Is this a camping event? Can anyone compare the conditions to Cornerstone Festival in IL or Carnival of Chaos in MI? (Those are the only two camping fests I've been to. Haven't been to Wacken, so comparisons wouldn't do so well for me, maybe others though)... Oh also, how far is it from the airport? Thanks for any help ya'll can give! I missed Rocklahoma last year because it was the same weekend as Texas Madfest, so I really don't know anything about it. :)

Can't comment on the camping aspect but it looks like if you intend to fly you'd need to fly into Tulsa. Pryor, OK is ENE of Tulsa so there'd still be some driving involved. Looks like about 35 to 40 miles from the Tulsa airport near as I can tell. Pryor is in the northeastern part of Oklahoma.

It is 45 minutes from the airport to the grounds. Main stage has reserved chair back and general admission (read: field) with no seating. The other stages were in tent set-ups last year, one near the main stage and the other near the entrance to the venue. If I remember correctly, there are around 4,000 RV hook-up sites and a couple of thousand more primitive camping spots, give or take. Camp sites are well back from the ticket gate, but not so far that it is not easy walking distance. There are hotels in Pryor (10 minutes south), Claremore (20-30 minutes west), Vinita (20-30 minutes north), the Cherokee Casino in Catoosa is a great option if you don't mind throwing down some extra cash for a room, it's about 30 minutes to the festival grounds and 15 minutes to the airport. Having said that about the hotels, do not even think about drinking and driving from this event. The highways were covered up with OHP and Mayes county deputies pulling people over coming off the grounds last year. You can expect crowds of at least 20,000 each day. Never been to Cornerstone or Carnical of Chaos, so I can't help you much there. I'm not going to say that I know everything about the place, but I've lived a short distance from there most of my life, if you have any more questions I'll chip in some answers if I can.

Cool Matt, that was incredibly helpful! Thank you! Do you know if there is a charge for the RV hook-ups?

I stand corrected:

-Primitive Camping ( No electricity or water hookups )
-Campsites measure 20' X 40' - One sleeping unit per site
-Some sites are unleveled - Bring your own blocking
-The grounds feature: hot showers, fresh water, garbage service, RV dumping station, port-o-lets
-Each campsite will receive one free vehicle pass
-Campgrounds have 24-hour security and night lighting
-There is a 24-hour convenience store on-site Ice is available on site
-Automated teller machines are located on-site.

Ah, that's more like it :) Sounds just like the Bushnell grounds for Cornerstone, 'cept their showers are never hot and the convenience store is all but convenient and certainly not 24-hour! Thanks for the information, again.

Sirus 23 said they had heard rumors that the festival was in the midst of confirming the Scorpions and Sammy Hagar for slots. It would make sense, but this is hearsay at this point.

Sorry for the late response, yes. One of my favorites. The picture by my screen name is the lead singer when I say them a year ago in the front row in Marne, Germany. Saw them twice out there. They are alive and kickin. Awesome shows. Still putting out cds, all imports though. They stopped US cd after "Riskin it All." I highly recommend their newer stuff, all of their stuff is really good.

I just caught the Scorpions last year when they played Detroit. Awesome show except for the very low attendence. Lucky if their was 2,000 people there. "Humanity" is a great cd.

No problem. I just figured you didn't see the question. I remember DAD, but I'm not too familiar with their music. I believe I remember a song called, Sleeping The Day Away. I'll check the rest of their stuff out.

Here's them playing a song off their last cd "Scare Yourself":

I recommend "Scare Yourself", "Everything Glows", "Soft Dogs", then their other stuff.

That surprises me about the low attendance! I figured they would draw fairly large crowds in the U.S.

The show was in an outdoor arena. We showed up and bought lawn seats. Halfway through the show they said the people in the lawn could come down to the seats and after that there was still a lot of room in the seats. It was a very limited US tour, only a handful of dates. It happened to be right around the same time "Humanity" was released in the US.
