Roland SPD-S Kick Drum Triggering...

Hey,

I just bought a SPD-S and a Roland RT-10K kickdrum trigger to fire up a Kick10 sample when playing with my band live. Works pretty well and sounds good, but I still got two issues.

First one is, that the "sensitivity" of the trigger is too high. If our Drummer just hits the BD very soft it kicks the hell out of the PA. He doesn't want that of course. I messed around with the setting and put "threshold" all the way up to 15 and "velocity curve" to "loud 2". Doesn't help. There are some presets for Roland Tiggers within the settins but the RT-10K isn't mentioned there. Anyone who can help me out with this?
The other thing is, that I was only able to load one kickdrum wavefile to the patch. So there is one sound repeating all the time. Isn't it possible to trigger multisamples with the SPD-S?

Thank you so much for every hint! :)

My band will be doing the same thing shortly. Was wondering how the SPD-S would handle triggering the kick. Gonna keep an eye on this thread.

Why wouldn't you want that if you're playing metal? That's kind of the point of triggers, so that each kick hit is consistent

mh...

at least anyone who can tell me if it's possible to use random multiple samples on one trigger input of the spd-s? similar to any trigger plugins like drumagog?

thanks! :)

No, i think you can use two different samples per slot, but they are controlled by velocity, so a softer and harder hit

Besides, it really isn't important, no one will hear 4 different slate kicks alternating each hit in a live enviroment, so why bother

If your persistant on having a "live" kick sound, just buy a very good kick drum mic and use it if the club has a crappy one
