Roland VS1680 / VirDis setup?

I have a roland VS1680 and have been reading info on recording through the virdis card straight to the pc - http://www.virtualscsi.com/virdis.htm
If i go this route i can use the vs as a control surface for reaper as well as for recording. Just wondering if anyone has tried this type of setup? And how well does it work fro upto 16 tracks at a time?
Would save me buying a new interface. I guess i could use my money on other things like better mic pres.

I love the vs1680 but sorry I can't help you on this, try the roland vs forum, they have nerds there that seem to know them inside out.
