Hi guys, I know every case is different but just out of curiosity, do you guys usually use guitar room mics blended with your close cab mics?

I could imagine using room mics in some styles such as doom, hardcore, OSDM, etc., but not in styles where guitars need to be tight as hell. What are your thoughts on this?

For metal, I've mostly seen guys recommending that you just get the close mic where you want it and then pull it back a little to let in a little room.

The only case where I'd perhaps use it is when soloed guitar are playing, to give a more "in the room" vibe. On cleans/crunch on softer parts it can be cool, but often I just put a room reverb to get that effect

I always, always set up a stereo room mic for everything.
You won´t believe how much depth a suitable room track brings to distorted guitars. That said, I strongly dislike hardgated djent - djendjent - djent tracks. There´s not a lot of things that are more fatiguing and annoying
