Russell Needs to Do PPVII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I have to agree with RobbM and Zack on this one...

Like come on... For starters. any person who is REALLY into the show won't think or have time to whip out his camera whether it be video or not! I understand if some guy showed up witha tripod and a professional camera and shit... But digital camera's are not that good quality and nore can you fit alot of footage on it! And EVEN if they did, what harm can it do do bands?

We are not downloading their BUYABLE albums than selling them for a profit... We're taken memory shots and possibly sharring it witht he interweb, which happens to not be violating any piracy laws thank you...

Well, if you truly think you've got a good argument on the camera rule why don't you post your complaint here? If you read that thread it may become clearer why the video bootleg issue has become a problem for the promoter.

BTW, ProgPower USA is a unique festival that showcases bands that should be selling hundreds of thousands and gives them the chance to expand their fan base. We've got Ozzfest and Gigantour and their ilk to cater to the fans of the those bands already overexposed. The ProgPower fan tends to have a more open mind and an appreciation for talent regardless of current sales records.

Hear Hear! :worship:

I really don't see why certain people have their panties in a wad over this.
If you don't like the rules, run your own fest. To those that go once, more than once, or every year, PP is a special event. It's to the point now where it's 50% about the bands playing, and 50% about the people who I see only once a year there. And while i agree that a fuzzy, distorted 2 min. vid isn't going to hurt anyone, the video quality of digi cams is getting quite unbelievable. I 'm happy being allowed to take pics PERIOD......

That's all i'm saying. That, and i think it's a silly rule and as a result, i won't be attending progpower.

Your loss......maybe you could attend PP, bring your recording gear, and let me turn you in........ :heh:

NOT true! You can still be into the show, and snap a few pics. Now if you're there to mosh & bleed to REALLY get into a show, then no, bringing a camera wouldn't be a good idea....

Bullshit! I have had some of my pics used by bands. The 2 shots of Victor Smolski playing with Rage on his website were taken with a 3.2mp Canon Powershot S30. The pics came out great. You stick a 2gb card in a camera that does modest quality, and you can tape a whole set.

My bottom line with this whole topic is, respect the promotor who is bringing you the show. If he says no cameras, no digi's, no moshing, whatever, then so be it. I feel I owe Glenn H. a lot for bringing Freak Kitchen to Prog Power. Would they have made it here eventually? Maybe. Did my (& others) constantly bringing them up year after year as a line up suggestion help? I think it did... Fact is, Glenn DOES listen to his customers, and does try to make things for the fest as easy as possible. Several fucking assholes took advantage of it, and now we have to deal with it.

For the record, I'm not anti-audience recorded stuff, I do, and I have taped bands WITH their permission. Nobody owes the patron a snapshot, or a tape of their show.

And that's what it all boils down to..that whole sense of entitlement thing that's going on today. People don't have a right to wtf ever they want just because they want it; sorry, life doesn't work that way. The people who create something, be it music or video or whatever, have a right to control it as they wish, and they don't OWE anyone anything. Such is life.

hah post 666 for you Zach! :headbang:
..I'm sure Gigantour didn't have it this tough..

At Gigantour show I was told absolutely NO DIGITAL CAMERAS. They did however inspect my tampons thouroughly....you know those can be a dangerous projectile weapon:rolleyes: Security had no idea what they were doing. I couldn't get my digital camera in..but so many others did.

I had a photo pass at Gigantour and still had to have my camera dissected to make sure I wasn't taking video. All cameras, even film, were confiscated at the gates if you didn't have a pass.

For the record, the camera rule at ProgPower applies to digital cameras only. Film cameras (and I bet those disposable digicams) are not included in the inspection.

thars fine, but did they have metal detectors?
Can't remember, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I live in New Jersey. We have a lot of guns, crime, violence, etc. We have metal detectors at Six Flags. :Smug: We're so used to them, (metal detectors), we don't even notice them anymore. Some of the schools even have them.

Hey Russell!!! You listening?? No, not you Jax. Russell??? For the love of God, please do PPVII with Jorn. What is it going to take man? Some people pooling together to pony up for your airfare too/back in a 24hr span. You were/are part of some very special music on The Battle. Now step up and do it justice live! One date! Is this too much to ask. When will there be a better time to do this with Jorn??? Just please do it, and put this album to rest.
Getting back to why this thread started ...

THIS would be AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I'm actually not quite sure my little heart could handle it. I guess we'll see as it gets closer. Less than 4 months. I can not believe it!!!

you can almost guarantee that some idiot will stuff a slim camera down his pants just to be able to take crappy video.

For the person that says he's not going just cause of the camera rule, :OMG: you sir are a fool. Missing out on all the great bands, and people, just cause you can't take pictures. :loco:

No, there's also airfare, the thing that i don't like most of the bands playing, and it's not worth it for 3 bands i'd like to see, 2 of which i've seen before. No thanks.

if nevermore were playing, i would have gone. MY point was that i think it's a silly rule, and it's one more thing that makes me not really want to go, not the *only* reason i don't want to go.
