rustymetal, yayogakk, check out my song!

what is this,,,,,get you music critiqued week,,,,if so,,,,here it goes
Alright like the begining of the song it had a very soft melody kind leading in to the heavier transition...i think that it should have been a little more drastic with the drums but it was really darn good. the only problem i had with the whole song was the lack of heavy drums,,,but that is just my opinion. I f hope you take this as constructive criticism and not that i am trying to dick on you.

hehe, my name is in three thread titles in a row!!!

im downloading your track at the moment.

thanks for listening to my little tunes as well, i assume if you just checked em out then that probably means you only got the last two things which arent really songs as such?

what is this,,,,,get you music critiqued week
There is a constant stream of bands and musicians posting their music on this forum, constant. Its not just this week! And most of them are damn good as well.

nah, yayo, ive been getting your songs since you linked your first one on here, or i think it was your first one, like 2 or 3 months ago or something like that.

thanks for the comments; yeah the drumming isnt good, but its gonna sound like that cause they are midi drums, not real drums.

yeh the first one was 'softly' about 3 months ago now.

right, your song just finished downloading, time for a listen :)

a nice, interesting first riff, some cool nonstandard chord shapes, not a big fan of the guitar sound though, actually if you added tonnes of reverb on to the start itd sound cool!

then the hihat on the drums first comes in (1:19), this bit is pretty good.. the advice i can give here is that you could making your picking a bit more interesting, the sound your creating is cool and different, but then your playing these things in basic 8th notes, if you added a few quick little trills or hammerons and stuff it could make the world of difference, and maybe a triplet here or there, stuff like that. something to think about anyway.

at about 2:54 you start using some cool harmonisations it sounds reallly cool, as already stated by entropy - its a pity the drums werent more powerful to add to the sound.

the rest of the song sounds really cool as well, more cool harmonisations and stuff, over a hypnotising acoustic riff.

obviously the song isnt finished, but it also didnt seem completely appropriate to drop into that final riff where you did, it just seemed to happen a bit to suddenly or something, that could just be me though!! It also could jsut be something to do with drums. I mean it might be something as easy as holding those notes a bit longer before droping into the faster bit.

this song is really good, i love how its structured so far and the sounds youve recorded work well. Good stuff :)

how long have you been writing/recording?

ive recorded only one other thing and that was a blues/jazzy type of song that is made up of only acoustic guitar. ill try to put that up if i have any time, and if i can find that, heh. ive been playin guitar for almost 3 years now. :)

thanks for the comments yayogakk, really helpful to say the least.

well you and rustymetal are certainly starting off writing better music than i ever started with, in years to come you'll both surpass the current songs by a lot im asuming, but you definitely have the basics there and have good ideas and the ability to make those ideas reality. Stick at it.

Maybe ill upload one of my old old songs sometime, just for a laugh.

I'll download it now, looking forward to it. Also, I'd like to say that I'm quite proud to have my name mentioned on a music critiquing thread title... it makes it seem like I'm a pro... See if you can get Hearse to have a listen, he seems to know what he's talking about.

Anyways, I'll get back to you on the song.

And Yayo, you definitely should put up one of your older songs.

Muchos good stuff indeed!

(The following comments are merely opinions and suggestions.)

I like this a lot - very impressive. The drums at 1:20 are good, and the riff at 2:00 is excellent. I like how you have an accoustic guitar background under most of the distorted parts. Your distorted harmonies are very good especially at 4:14, and here the drums are very good as well.

The song is crying out for some heavy drums somewhere in the middle - the 2:15 riff in my humble opinion. Also in the next riff, perhaps having heavy drums at 2:45-2:49, with the drums used between 2:49-2:53 (in a pattern for the whole riff, if you see what I mean) would enhance the effect - that's what I would try.
On a more personal note I don't particularly like it when one note takes ages to fade out at the end - but that's just me.

And these "bad" points are only minor - this is a very good song, and it is now on my playlist. Have you written anything else? If so, put it up, 'cos I wanna hear it!
