S-X: a band that has slowly become one of my favorites

DAMN, this is a kickass band!

i've been listening to V for 2 years and 'twilight' for 1 and still love them both, but after listeing to 'tdg' and 'odyssey', i've realized that this is truly one of the best bands around. definately on my top 10 list.

just felt like sharing.

I just had to listen to one song and I fell in love..

"Love at 1st Listen"...:D
That song was "The Accolade", been hooked ever since, and they only just keep getting better IMO..

oh BTW Welcome!!

I remember hearing some 30 second samples from cdnow and just went out and got V. I was instantly in hospital needing a major arse repair after I was blown out of my fucking town and landed on it.

The more time passes the more I seem to appreciate this amazing band. Over these two years I've listened to them, they just get better in my mind. And after seeing them live I don't think I'll ever turn from this path. And even when I get tired of the music, there will never be anyone who can deny the talents of the guys in the band.

Russell forever!!! :headbang:

They should hit #1 once you listen to "The Divine Wings of Tragedy". Personally, I (and many others) believe this is their finest album. An absolute masterpiece!

It took me a while to really become madly in love with Symphony X, but when I first heard them, I was very young and confused. :zombie: V is one of those albums that breaks you out of that stupor. :)

The same thing happened to me, I bought Twilight after receiving recommendations, and while I liked it a lot (not as much as I do now of course), it wasn't until V that I ranked them among my favorites.

"V" and The Odyssey were my first Symphony X albums. First of all, I didn't like the Odyssey that much. I wasn't that 'progressive' that time. I listened to V all the time ( especially Evolution, it was one of my favourite songs ) and meanwhile I also started to listen more to The Odyssey and since then I was sure I became a big fan of them :).

Cool! looks like there's a few other Aussie SX nuts around. I work at a major Sydney concert venue, How many other fans in Sydney are there? It would be fantastic if one of our promoters could get them over for a couple of shows.

It took me about 4 months to fully appreciate the band after buying TDWOT in 1997. At first the only songs that hit home were Of Sins and Shadows and Out of the Ashes, then one day I got into The Accolade and it all fell into place. Next came TDG and then the debut. They are truly a magnificent band.
