Got my tix for 2014. :worship:

Now, it ain't Dio but it'll be nice to see Iommi & Butler again. :kickass:

Hoping Halford opens but it'll probably be a DJ :(

Bought the Gathered In Their Masses blu. Stunning PQ  Ozzy's vocals have been sweetened up a bit though. Australian crowd seems listless. Kinda there just to be there.

Standard setlist. Merch was cheap looking and expensive so I skipped buying a t-shirt.

Impressive stage setup and lasers. Especially during Black Sabbath. Really ominous atmosphere. Iommi and Butler were in fine form as always. Under the Sun, Age of Reason and Into the Void were nice to hear live. Sadly, its not really Sabbath that's playing. Its a solo Ozzy gig with 2 legends filling in for his rotating stable of players. H&H felt much more legitimate and they never relied on cheap tricks like video nudity and confetti.

Ozzy was Ozzy. His fans were the usual get as drunk and high as possible then get back in the car and drive home. Idiots behind me couldn't even stand up by the time Children of the Grave was played. Yeah and the confetti and balloons during Paranoid. Saw this in 1987 when Motley Crue did it. This is so beneath Sabbath. Its not about the music but this 110% buy in of the bumbling British rocker from tv. Let's be as stupid as he was on The Osbournes. Yay Ozzy rawks dood! Still $ is $ and the lowest common denominator brings home the bacon.

Reignwolf was crap. Even the drunks and substance abusers didn't like them.

Really, having 3/4 of the original lineup is not Sabbath and hired guns for Ozzy? Uh huh...right. Who cares if there's confetti during the encore, a lot of big bands do it and it shouldn't be an issue. As far as that goes, everyone knows that's a Sharon thing anyways.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it.
I saw the tour last summer and it was a LOT better than expected.
Great stage show and setlist.

Ozzy had a lot of energy.

No more substance and alcohol abusers at that show than any other big summer hard rock show.

I agree the shirts were terrible.

It was different. There were moments where the band was on form but I dont even think Iommi & Butler believe in it anymore. They seemed to be going through the motions. All the legitimacy gained by the Dio reunion is now gone. Just sad. Ozzy getting the audience to say cuckoo was also beyond annoying.

I would ask you to clarify, but I fear this will go off for pages and pages...

Ah what the hell! It's monday....

So are you implying that Heaven & Hell was a more legitimate BLACK SABBATH than BS today with Ozzy on vocals and Tommy C playing Drums live?

This can go one of two ways:
1) you make a compelling argument as to why H&H was more legitimate

or

2) You simply admit that you prefer DIO to OZZY era Sabbath.

Damn. I've seen you say nicer things about Halcyon Way.

And this sort of proves the fact that (even if you won't admit it, haha), just because the band is a "classic" from the old era, doesn't mean they're necessarily still any good. ;) (though I do like the last Sabbath disc)

1) The 13 album was fantastic since it was serious. No comedy. The live show however, is compromised by pandering to the reality tv show audience. It's like there's a King, a Prince and maybe a squire on drums. But the jester is the center of attention and his antics detract from the music. That's fine for a solo show. H&H just played the songs so well the audience was inspired. But with Ozzy, it's a different crowd. It's just a place to get drunk and high and mirror the clown on stage. The music is secondary.

2) I like all eras equally but if pushed Born Again is the best one.

Iommi and Butler still have it. They just need a different guy to sing the songs live.

I saw the tour yesterday in Ottawa and really enjoyed the show. I could agree with you about the need for a different singer, except that Ozzy is the main selling point. I mean, I much prefer Dio over Ozzy, but let's face it, the band with Ozzy draws twice more than Dio did when they toured as Heaven & Hell.

And I was quite surprised by Ozzy's performance. Ozzy will always be Ozzy (and will never be a great singer), but he was spot on about 80% of the time IMO, and quite energetic for a 65-year old frontman who lived the rock'n'roll life like he did. He was much better than when I had last saw him live in 1996.

Iommi and Butler still have it big time. These guys are legends that still play great. And as sad as I was to not see Bill Ward on drums, Cloufetos (spelling?) did a killer job IMO.

I saw Sabbath last summer and thought they were great. It didn't seem like a Ozzy solo show at all (thank god). I went in with low expectations (based on Ozzy not being able to sing anymore) and Tony's illness and was very pleased. Would I rather have seen Heaven and Hell? Yes, but mostly because I prefer the Dio era. I'd also like to see them with Tony Martin again too, but that's a diffetent story. But as much as I think Ozzy is a joke these days, he couldn't spoil it and Iommi and Butler are simply perfect at what they do. Wish they were playing here this week, but since they aren't I think I'll watch the 'Gathering in Their Masses' DVD instead, like right now.

Oh yes. When I saw Ronnie's last show in Canada, H&H had maybe just over a 1000 at the UBC Thunderbird Arena. The Canadian Tire Centre had 13000 but I was wishing I just went to Montreal. Good weekend for music though. Left for Toronto on Sat to see Y&T and returned back in time for Sab. Felt like PP but with 2 different venues hundreds of km apart.

I always have been and always will be most fond of Ozzy-era. He's not a great singer but unique. It seems the last few years he's been better live. Last time I saw him was when he was solo with Gus G and was surprised. Having said that, I can't bring myself to see them live because my last experience seeing original Sabbath was a great one and would rather see my second favorite band in a great performance than a bad or mediocre one just in case...

In Quebec City, Heaven & Hell drew about 5,500 in 2007. Black Sabbath drew 10,000 last week. That's where I took my comparison. Dio always had lots of fans in Quebec City though.

I never saw Y&T and they never ever played in the province of Quebec as far as I know and remember. They played New Hampshire last week and if the show had been on a weekend, maybe I'd have made the trip...
