Sanctuary > Nevermore - that's right, I said it bitches

We should have a poll then, and let the RC hordes decide. :)

I would've said Arcane Sun, but since they beat 99% of all bands with their lone album, it was just too easy.

:OMG:
I'd be curious to know how many CDs you and I both own, in common.

Zod

One I'm sure we have in common now, nearly five years later is Nevermore's self-title debut. I found the original in the used bin, so I grabbed it.

It's pretty good, I admit. I myself have seen Nevermore live and it was a very good show (much more stage presence than Opeth, who played before them), with a fantastic end where they asked the fans to go onstage.

However, I see what JayK is saying about the vocals. They are very samey throughout.

What's the best Nevermore disc?

^ YES! I'm a HUGE Sanctuary fan that was let down by the self titled so I was done with them...until I heard DNB. Dreaming Neon Black is a fantastic album that I have had to replace once because my original started to skip a year or so ago. I generally don't whole-heartedly recommend much (with taste being what it is) but this is a very, very good album with solid performances throughout. It has the Arse Magma seal of approval (for whatever that is worth).

I actually listen to the self titled more than POE or EOR (which I never really could get into, despite enjoying all the others. It is definitely a less mature recording, a band searching for their sound if you will, but has some killer tracks- CBF, Sanity Assassin, and Garden of Grey rule. I even dig Godmoney alot despite everyone seeming to hate that track. "In Memory" is worth picking up as well, if I had to rank them:

-Dreaming Neon Black
-Dead Heart in a Dead World
-This Godless Endeavor
-Self Titled
-Politics of Ecstasy
-In Memory
-Enemies of Reality

Albums ranked with standout track (Off the top of my head)

The Politics of Ecstasy (The Seven Tongues of God)
Dreaming Neon Black (No More Will)
In Memory (Matricide)
This Godless Endeavor (S/T)
Dead Heart in a Dead World (The River Dragon Has Come)
Enemies of Reality (I, Voyager)
Nevermore (Meh, forgettable)
