What is the difference between the programmable and normal Sansamp Bass Driver DI's? (besides the programmability) Do they sound exactly the same? i can't decide which one to get.. eek

i thought you could either get the DI Box or the Rackmount RBI model? if thats the case they both sound the exact same.
The programmable is a version of the original w/ the addition of 3 saveable slots so you can recall different tones w/o turning knobs. It sounds like (tho I have no direct experience) you might lose some output flexibility with the programmable.
IMO, the RBI sounds different than the pedal version-- probably b/c of the addition of the mid eq.

the programmeble bass driver doesn't have a paralel (uneffected) out like the original has. i found this limiting in the studio beacuse the miced signal will sound (very much) the same as the DI signal wich leaves less possibilities to shape the sound in the mix. however i usually end up just using the sansamp signal anyway, always sounds great. and it's really easy to be able to store your presets in case you need to do some punching in later in the recording process than you would have axpected (oh, are you playing a major? i always played minor there blahblah, you know that stuff happens)
