When I first started getting into SM (wait..... that sounds wrong....

In reference to the Minneapolis thing,if people would take the time to understand what's going on, they'd be a lot less offended.

"Despite critical acclaim from the secular press and a growing number of fans nationwide, people in some Christian circles felt threatened by Saviour Machine's bold lyrical direction and stylized stage presentation, most prominently the white make-up and jewel worn by vocalist Eric Clayton. During a 1993 tour with Christian rock band Deliverance, the controversy spilled over at a concert at the New Union, a Christian music club in Minneapolis. Several songs into their set, the power was cut and the performers were ushered from the stage. This was followed by an announcement from New Union management stating they were uncomfortable with the content of the show. However, many in the crowd gathered with band members at a local restaurant to show their continued support."
Yep, I've seen them at Cornerstone Fest once. The other time was at the famous Halloween '99 show in Elgin.
Their stage show is pretty intense. In reference to the Minneapolis thing,if people would take the time to understand what's going on, they'd be a lot less offended.
Of course, most metal fans aren't "fundamentalist Christian America" either, so I would guess that's why it works out for the band. Which is good.![]()
What I heard on Ayreon's THE was pretty cool. Good deep voice.
Is that the ONLY place Clayton sang without the Jesus junk gunking it up?
And Thanks for that YouTube video, Glenn.
He sings about his beliefs because he BELIEVES in it. I had the pleasure to briefly meet and speak with him ay a fest and he is a genuine and nice human. The Jesus "gunk" is sacred to him.

Yup.. at the White Castle.
They opened up for Deliverence.
Half of the people left the show and did not stay around for the headliner.
I only been their once to support CRIMSON THORN. Then I have not been their since and will not till this day.
Thanks Tammy. The dude has a really good voice. I'm happy with the Ayreon then (plus the ep cover tunes Clayton helped).
I guess it's just weird when you're outside the system, rather than inside it. Can't get all the references or whatever.
I think Eric is alright. Yes, he has Barret's, but from all OFFICIAL reports, he's actually doing a lot better now. Anybody who frequents the SM board who is familiar with "Adam" - the forum admin, also should know that Adam is a VERY good friend to Eric and talks with him quite constantly. Matter of fact, EC has been helping Adam with producing Adam's band's first album.
If you go to page 2 of the thread entitled, "A Message from Eric Clayton" on the SM board, you'll see Adam's response on Thu Sep 10, 2009 3:24 pm to all the speculation, in which he states, "FYI - ERIC IS NOT DYING! At least not at any faster rate than anyone else."
Based on Adam's comment, I'm going to assume that the tone of Eric's video message is just Eric satisfying his obsessive penchant for all things "Theatrical". For what reason is anybody's guess.
