Schecter Hellraiser questions (I might need some convincing. haha.)

I can tell you my Hellraiser C1 FR neck is way thicker than a normal Ibanez neck, though not as thick as a Gibson Les Paul neck. So for people who are used to super thin Ibanez necks the Hellraiser C1 neck seem thick. I like it personally. Not too thin, not too thick either.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. I was just expecting something really difficult to play, as that was the first time for me to even pickup a 7 string, and I'm used to a 6 string Ibanez (thin neck). But maybe because I play with a slightly unorthodox style, and I'm also used to playing my Strat and Tele, I find it easy to play. The only problem I had wasn't thickness...it was that extra string. When I did arpeggios, I got lost on the upsweep and didn't know where to stop. LOL In any case, I want a Schecter 7 string BADDDD after playing that one. :)

Can anybody confirm that the 81TW in humbucking mode sounds like an 81 and that the 89 in humbucking sounds like an 85? I've read a few comments now that say they don't really sound like what they are supposed to and that they don't have as much cut... kinda worries me. I want the single coil option, but I don't want the humbuckers to sound worse...

I can't say they sound EXACTLY the same. But to me the 81TW was actually a little bit smoother in the high end than the 81 my guitarist has in his ESP 400 series. Of course the coil taps give completely different tones. The 89 for all purposes sounds pretty damn close to an 85, although I find the tapped neck is just awesome for clean work on the 2-ch dual rec. I'm sure there are subtle differences, but overall it's pretty much ballpark the same.

One word though, if you plan on coaxing some good cleans, throw an extra 9v on those pups. It pretty much lifted the ceiling on the pickups, and now they have such high headroom. Really sparkly on the tapped settings. :headbang:
