Hi!
I'm reaching out to those of you who are into norwegian black metal.
Being a girl from Norway myself, I have chosen this topic as a project in
my language class.
I would very much appreciate inputs on my following questions:
Question 1: Would you say the lyrics were a main factor for you developing
an interest for NBM?
Question 2: What do you expect from norwegian black metal lyrics? (i.e.
depictions of nature, paganism, satanism, etc)
Question 3: What NBM band wrote the lyrics that meant the most to you
personally, which lyrics (or track) would this be, and why?
Question 4: Have you every considered to study - or in fact studied - the
norwegian language solely because of your fascination for NBM?
Question 5: Please have a moment to analyze the following text. What does
these lyrics mean to you?
(I've chosen 'Burzum - Dunkelheit' because
- (a) it's in english (so you wouldn't have to translate it through Google
Translate), and
- (b) because it's subject to quite different interpretations:
When night falls, she cloaks the world in impenetrable darkness.
A chill rises from the soil and contaminates the air
suddenly... life has new meaning.
Thank you for your time.
