What a beautiful night!!! Blew Irvine out of the water and then some!!! The show was nowhere near sold out but we screamed to our heart's content and the guys left happy, I'm sure.
I spoke with Jen on the phone and she said that the guys were rather bummed at the crowd reaction at Irvine and the turnout tonight, but they gave their all and the crowd rewarded them with very loud singing!
It was a religious experience! :)
There seemed to be this invisible, but very palpable energy in the air, and as soon as the crowd heard UFO's Doctor Doctor, they knew the guys were coming. The first tune out of the gate was The Number of the Beast, and the band hit the ground running. They never looked back. Every tune was great. The new song was received with enthusiasm and Bruce and the boys seemed to appreciate it. Steve was all over the place. He ran around more than at Irvine. Bruce jumped like an NBA All-star and Nicko gave us his patented schizophrenic ballerina dance.
It was bloody great, what else can I say... I was on the verge of tears during 2 minutes because I was so happy.
Thanks Iron Maiden :)

The Complete, Official Set List from both shows:

Number of the Beast
The Trooper
Die With Your Boots On
Revelations
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Wildest Dreams
The Wicker Man
The Clansman
The Clairvoyant w/cameo appearance from King Edward The Great
Feat Of The Dark
Iron Maiden w/oversize Eddie the Head
Two Minutes To Midnight
Run To The Hills

And, once again, thrown out of the venue before getting to meet any of the band members. :( I did get to see several friends backstage, though, including one I hadn't seen in about two years, so that did kind of take some of the sting off. :p

BTW, the band will be back in January on the Dance Of Death Tour.:Spin:

AWESOME!!!!

Amazing show! It was classic metal at its best! The guys were in great shape and showed no lack of energy after 20+ years of doing this!

We need more shows like this at Long Beach Arena! The venue has a HUGE history of killer metal shows (thanks to KNAC 105.5 FM (RIP)), and just being there brought back some great memories (Maiden's 4 night stand, when Live After Death was recorded, Ozzy, Metallica, Priest, Maiden (w/Di'Anno) opening for UFO in 1981, Motorhead opening for Ozzy (w/RR) in 1981 (mentioned by Lemmy last night), AC/DC, Anthrax, Megadeth, etc.)

I heard when Maiden comes back they will play more intimate, smaller venues (e.g. HOB, Universal Ampitheater).

What can you say after a night like that? It was such a great time… so many friends in the crowd. Everybody had their cell phones on like walkie-talkies…

"Where are you? Stand on your chair and wave … what’s up dude? Meet me at the beer stand… no the bud line is too long, go to the MGD stand!"

Awesome vibe… I think at one point or another I bumped into everybody that posts here (f/ SoCal). It felt like I was in high school, except it wasn’t the Houston Coliseum.

The show was RAD but it seemed a little short. Wildest Dreams (new song) went over really well. The Clansman was such a treat. I’m going to have to dig that one up and start spinning it again (w/ BD on vox). Keyser… Revelations almost brought me to tears.

Nice Pictures Mini… did you snatch any gtr pics? When Dave was flinging pics in the crowd, it totally reminded me of you.

I though DIO was on fire last night too… his voice sounded stronger than ever. He was perfect in the mix.

Smylex don’t feel bad dude while all the meet and greets where going down, I was flyering the parking lot and killing the rest of the 12er with my bros. Fun Fun Fun!

When they come back I hope they do the Greek Theatre or Universal.
Until the hammer drops again…

PS. As far as the band being bummed about the turn out... they should'nt be. That was alot of metalheads for a monday... especially the day after they played 30 minutes down the road. If Linkin Park (Current+Multi-Platinum) did the same thing... I don't think the turn out would have been better.

I'll agree with that. I ran into probably 30+ people that I knew, it was so awesome. Brought back memories of when a group of friends and I would gather at LB Arena for the string of sold out shows in 86 they did. (or was it 87? damn my crappy memory) Everywhere I turned I saw a familiar face, so waves were returned.

Felt like home.

It was cool to hear Bruce say "Scream for me Long Beach!" again! A friend saw Bruce in a local bar in Marina Del Rey after the Long Beach show. She was comforting herself with a couple drinks with a pal cuz they were bumming they missed the show and then in walked Bruce.

Do you know what bar it was? Could it have been Brennan's Pub?
