Hi,
in the last year I have build a 2x12" guitar Cab.
Dimensons are near the 2x12 recto.

Here some pics for you:

Signal Chain: KSE DIs - Palmer DI Box (reverse) - Maxon OD-9 - Peavey 6505 - MY212 - Shure SM57

and NO postprocessing!

I am pretty happy with results :)

Sounds pretty good dude, great work!

Also, I'm slightly curious to try building a cab too, did you find any guides online that helped you out?

Only thing i would have done different, is i would have 2 handles, 1 in each side, instead of 1 on the top. That makes sense?

//EDIT:

Oh and btw, the cab looks fantastic. Very professional. The soundclip sounds great to my ears, but im not an engineer, so it's not a professional oppinion.

looks very nice and it sounds great IMHO!

does the used material matter?
i have some massive wood lying around,
that's not that nice to make a guitar out of it,
so i thought building a massive wood cabinet.
would this give any advantage or does the used
material not really matter for cabs?

cheers
S.

The type and density of the wood makes a big difference in the sound of the cabinet. Mesa uses voidless Russian Birch (marine grade, moisture restistant) for their cabinets, for example.

and it's ALL solid wood? or is it "plywood" made of russian birch? :)

no, nothing! only some pics from other projects...

Hm, I think it sounds without large handles better. But thats just my speculation ;)

How much did the project cost you not including the V30s?
I don´t know the exact prices... but I think it was arround 200-250 Euro (without V30s!).

Great work dude, sounds and looks great! Also curious which wood you used.
I used 18mm Birch Plywood

Just out of curiosity, why did you staple the tolex?
No, I used glue for the hole tolex. I have staple the tolex in the front, because there is a hard edge and it was easier to staple this places (+ glue) instead to clamp everything there.

@all;
THANKS for all your replies! :)

Looks great man!
Im currently designing my own cab.. should be interesting enough to build it, as i have very little wood working experience.
(Apart from minor work on pianos.)

Yeh, that and the fact that only sissies would need 2 handles on a 2*12. ;)
Seriously, they are light and small enough to be carried in one hand.

Naw, thats because only sissies carry cab and amp seperated. Tough guys (Very tough guys) like me, carry everything in one go... incl. the singer.

Hey looks very nice and sounds good to me ears. Would you share the dimensions of that Box or any drawing?

Thanks

Andy
