Senn 421's

Mic gurus...

There must be at least eight or more diff. varietes of the Sennheiser 421.

Which is the one to get?

I've used the MD-421 U5 and found them to be great, don't know if there is much of a difference between the different ones other than the bass roll-off switch.

I love my i5, but the 421 is a mic I have always wanted to try. eBay turns up many different models... Hard to decipher/know which is the "proper" one to procure.

Seems that $200 is about the average used price?

Old grey one are great too but maybe you'll have to deal with tuchel connectors (which sucks)... Works great on toms and shitty g12t loaded cabs. Not so great on V30...
