What do you think about SENTENCED???Do you like them now?or it was better at the beginning?Sincerly, now I don't like such as before...they were fantastic!!Expecially in AMOK...:(

To quote myself:

Everything up to and including Love & Death is great. But new Sentenced is fucking horrible. I can't stand it.

I've only heard the newer stuff (mostly songs off Crimson). I am getting into and really like them.

Like Dark Tranquillity, Sentenced have never put out a bad release, not even just an ok one. They are all good or better.

yeah, sentenced are quite nice, and i like the more rock-like tunes on the new album as well. live they are awesome (at least the shows i've been to). the only thing which is kinda annoying are the lyrics always revolving around suicide. you can maybe write a song or two about that, but not whole records, IMO.

I like them too,but I haven´t heard the new album yet. Crinsom and Down are great. I also like their lyrics about suicide, but I think it´s strange that someone haven´t said something like: "that band is satanic and induces young peolpe to commit suicide" . I hope nobody say it ever.

well, actually there have been quite a few comments about that issue. don't ask me where i read these, but it wasn't only one.

i agree with ormir. love & death, then it went absolutely downhill.

@superchivita: i don't think they're satanic or that they induce ppl to commit suicide, but i sure think they write cheesy, superstitious stupid lyrics. i know many here are convinced the lyrics are of a sarcastic nature, but the reviews i read take it very seriously and i tend to agree.

Can't make it any clearer than that and rather than quoting myself saying something in that vein, I let you get the credit this time :D

Gee, wonder what affected that change in the lyrical style, would the leaving of, maybe, THE greatest lyricist have anything to do with it? :D

I actually like them more now. All their albums are good IMO, but down, frozen and Crimson are the works that gives me the most. TCWL was a downsstep, but still good. I do agree that the lyrics are repetetive (and that they were better in the early days), but some of them are quite fitting, still I hope that they will change a bit for the next album. Another one with lyrics about suicide and stuff would actually make me disrespect them. I was fine with it with crimson, but with TCWL they almost took it over the top, another one will def. do it.

:worship: You said it all.

Some of their latest songs make me think of them as posers or smt.. :err:
On the other hand i love Jarva and what he did in Ichor.

I like nearly everything they've done so far...but IMO The Cold WHite Light is simply awesome :)))

"excuse me while i kill myself"
that's a damn great song :)

i listened to AMOK,Down,Frozen,Crimson and the last Cold White Light and although i agree with most of you in the lyrics era, i think they get better with each album. No One There and Guilt And Regret simply rocks. But i admit that i still like Crimson more than CWL.(Kind of a paradox huh? ;;)

If you keep up with the band, in Terrorizer the band talks about why they put that suicide shit on the new album. He states that is merely to convey the image they already had, along with the fact they want to fuck with the media. Excuse me while i kill myself is not EVEN serious song. The cd is good although towards the end it digresses...I do enjoy the first eight tracks though.

@distortorous: i know about these statements. however, since most reviews do not even take them into consideration and the majority of fans don't really keep up with interviews anyway, i see them as some sort of asides destined to apologize to the few interested enough to criticize.

I have, amok, Love and death, frozen, crimson and TCWL, hmm I like most of the songs of the new album, and that didnt happen with the old ones. In my opinion the suicider (in frozen) is the best song, but I didnt like the whole frozen album.
