What do you think of them? I think they're one of the best if not THE best thrashers ever. But of course they've lost their way of music. Since Max left they've changed a lot. But still, their early work is legendery.

As you can probably tell from my name.. I'm a big Sepultura fan.
Too bad they suck so much now.. :(
But when Max was with 'em, they were awesome!!!!

I'll go along with that. ARISE definitely was the best Thrashmetal album of the 90's. After Chaos A.D. I couldn't listen to them anymore, though Roots grooved quite cool they just stopped being the Sepultura I musically grew up with.

Well, nothing can last forever, and irony sometimes is quite ironic, don't you think?

Never were my cup of tea, too much death for my thrash :D

I still dug some songs but up to "Arise" they lost it after that album IMO

Beneath the Remains was a great album....as was Chaos AD and Arise......but from Roots after they sucked ass. I actually think CC's cover of Roots Bloody Roots was better then the original.

I recently got into them, beneath and arise are great, but chaos ad only has 3 good tracks.

They kinda remind me of Sodom, except Sodom kicks even more anus!!

Up until after "Arise" they were my favorite thrash band of the 90s. They had the perfect blend of technicallity and power. After "Arise" everything turned to shit!

I still can't believe it. They were so talented. I have the "Barcelona under Siege" video [no not the DVD yet] and if you see how good they were live. Well it seems I still have not accepted it :( :erk:

I agree with all of you. I don't think they suck but the last 3 CD'S (Roorback, Nation and Against) are really bad. It's kind of shame they had to separate at the top of their career.

I used to ba a big fan of them. I bought Beneath The Remains without ever having heard them and loved it. I saw them twice live on the Roots and Chaos A.D. tours. One of the coolest thing s I think they did live was arrange a whole bunch of different tribal drums in a semi circle and they had something like 6 extras plus the band all playing them on stage. Pretty intense.

Once were a great band, but are dead now. A really great band. They had all it takes to mess with the big boys. Unfortunately they lost it on the way. Chaos A.D. didn't get me excited when it came out and Roots was (and is) a true stinker.

Dammit I just went off and it didnt post! hahahaha Fucking A here it goes again!

OK I used to be a Huge Sepultura fan myself I remember seeing Desperate Cry from the Barcelona Vid Hawk mentioned on Mtv and I fell in love! My first album was Chaos AD and contrary to everybody elses belief I thought it was a brilliant album! Roots wasnt Bad Wasnt great but it Certainly was NOT "Mallcore" it was completely Different than anything that was out then or now as a matter of fact I'm sure "Mallcore" wasnt even a term to describe a Metal band at that point .... Sepultura Went to shit when Max Left ...kinda like having all the parts but missing the glue ... But I will admit to liking the first Shitfly album as it came out during a time when Heavy Metal had started to make a comeback ... if you lived in a small town in the middle of nowhere you will beable to remember how shitty it was to be the 1 metal kid surrounded by Grungers and Rap wanna-bes that thought that Small town Vermont was some kind of Ghetto BAH posers.... this is the one and only time I will defend Nu/Mallcore because it deserves it atleast once hahaha now you must also remember that the Net was a whole new thing so you couldnt just point and click to find out about new bands you were stuck with a dying Metal Edge, and Hit Parader ... so you basiclly had to take what you could get ... I am very Happy now that times have changed and I can discover all the great Power/Thrash/Prog/Death/Black/Folk metal bands the WORLD has to offer we are living in a great time right now and hopefully it will only get better .... Ummm Sorry ADD moment .. Basiclly .... Sepultura - Troops of doom is a awsome fucking song

You said it man!
'Chaos AD' is awesome! 'Roots' is decent and in no way "mallcore." They worked hard with the Xavantes tribe for that sound.

They were at their peak at the 'Beneath the Remains'/'Arise' era. But they didn't turn shit untill Max left, as you said, he was the glue that held the pieces together.
