Seriously, what's so great about Cryptopsy?

I enjoy None so Vile, Once was Not is just too... chaotic that I can't get any sort of groove from it or w/e.

NONE SO VILE is the only one I have. I really enjoy it (it's the perfect length, like, less than 30 mins) but I'm not really interested in checking out any of their others.

I'm listening to Cryptopsy right now and I'm like . What the fuck is going on here. Beyond the complexity and brutality, it just seems...totally random.

What's your take on this band?

I totally agree with you on this one... to 'LIKE' Cryptopsy you have to be a huge Death Metal fan... which I am not... like some, can't stand most... however, I did see Cryptopsy live... and Live they were incredible... but thats a totally different aspect. I still don't prefer their music... Slit Your Guts is my fav Cryptopsy song, and probably the only one I like

I've been drawn into Cryptopsy by the whole fuss around their drummer being an octopus. They kick some serious ass in a cold-blooded professional kind of way, but when I need some death/grind I tend to go for the more groovy stuff like Circle of Dead Children, Nasum...

their drummer is an Octopus... when I saw them live I was lucky enough to see a drum solo, mind blowing stuff... but if you want the fastest... check out the Blast beats on Kataklysm- Serenity In Fire... the guitar is pretty basic and the drums are nothing special for the most part... but he blasts like no mere human

I agree, FLO is a FAR better drummer... all that Kataklysm guys got goin for him is his speed... not even his overall speed, just his blast beats... still the best drummer Kat has ever had tho... but assuming FLO was their drummer they'd be a million times better

Actually one of my friends who was is into grindcore introduced me to them. Like Opeth17 said, I found Slit Your Guts and Phobophile to be very groovy.

Although good, "None So Vile" pales in comparison with "Blasphemy Made Flesh". To those of you moderately interested in the genre - I urge you to check out this record.
