Has anybody used these pups? They're the Dave Mustaine ones, active Seymour Duncans. How are they compared to other active pickups such as 81/85 set? I'm trying to decide whether to get these or the Dimarzio Crunch Lab/Liquifier set. I know the Dimarzios are passive and I have played a friend's guitar that has the Dimarzios installed and they sound great. I just dunno which to get.... I want a nice choppy rhythm sound and a nice fluid lead sound.
Any opinions?

Don't sound much like the EMGs.
They do however sound amazing. They have less noise like actives should do, and they are pretty tight sounding.

They are very hot pickups too, they drive my amp like a boost pedal. I never use a TS when I'm using my Livewire equipped guitar.

I do like the EMGs more than the SDs though...

I'd go for the Dimarzios or the EMGs. I had Mustaine Livewires in one of my guitars, swapped 'em out for Duncan Distortions, and I was much happier.
