SH 13 Dimebucker

I been usinf Paf Pros and JB's for years i think they sound amazing with the 5150... then again a 5150 sounds amazing with just about anything .... lol

But i like the JB more for the downtuned stuff it seems to have a better bass response than the Paf Pro, All my standard tuned guitars have the Paf In the Bridge and a Tone Zone in the neck. All my Down tuned guitars have a JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. My 7 string is has a 707 in the bridge and a Paf Pro 7 in the neck.

The JBs arent super high output like the lawrence or the Dimebucker. So keep that in mind. You may have to boost the signal a bit more to get a tone thats to your likeing.

Luck To You I Wish My Young Padwan ;)

Its the Blackmore ... Sounds good for an Engl Though ...

For some reason i just dont liek the sounds of he Blackmore.

The Blackmore is the best sounding ENGL to me.

That being said I hate it.

:erk:

"For some reason i just dont liek the sounds of he Blackmore."

i hear ya man....to me, the blackmore is just a super loud bedroom amp....because it sounds GREAT at bedroom volumes, but cranking the biatch feels like the master volume should be labeled "suck".....or bogus tone, whatever you prefer :D :D :D

exactly. i loved the sound when playing at home, but at a normal live volume it all went downhill. it did sound slightly better when CRANKED, but i never could do that because it's an insanely loud amp - much louder than my 5150 or my jcm 800.
anyway, i kinda wish i still had this amp.....after i finally experienced the power of tubes (i retubed my 5150 and did lots of preamp tube swapping. now it sounds terrific, in contrast to the mediocre sound it had when i first got it. the thing with the 5150 is that i played a show with one of my friend's 5150 before buying it, so i knew how good this amp can sound) i'm wondering whether it's possible to maintain that kickass low volume tone at high volumes by using different tubes (mine had standard engl 5881 and ecc83 tubes) or not.

as a matter of fact, i really want to play a show using a fireball. i like the idea of having 2 master volumes.

If it's anything like the Powerball, have fun getting lost in the mix. :hotjump:

My Krank has 2 masters. It's a cool feature.

it seems ENGL dont really use the best tubes as stock-equipment for their amps, that seems to be a fact

and again: (yes I KNOW we wont agree, but wtf...) the powerball needs a good setup and a good cab, then it can cut through easily

oh, man, when i saw milkandcheese's reply i KNEW you'd have to chime in :D :D :D
btw, i don't think i ever heared your powerball....i don't know, did you play the dark&evil festival in tauberrettersheim earlier this year? i can't remember it right now...if not, chances are i've never seen you guys play live. now that would be funny :D

This seems to be a big problem amongst a lot of amp makers. The tubes they use stock just don't vibe with the amps! My Krank had some nasty attributes and weakness until I put some JJs and Eis in there. I have no reason to doubt the ENGL is any different, but I've played so many....just not my thing.

I recently played a B52 head that had been retubed with JJs...it sounded better then a Recto to me.

no we didnt play the dark&evil but I was there and joined ROTS as vocalist for 2 songs.
I think the only gigs where you may have heard us live are UFTG festival and that little gig in JuZ Lohr somewhen this year (we talked a while there)
but I used a Marshall cab at the UFTG and my old Behringer cab at the JuZ-gig, so that was not the sound I have now.
I also will retube the amp somewhen soon!

I have the dimebucker in a mahagony ibanez rg and it sounds great IMO. The output is not as high as my dimarzio evolution equipped guitars, but it has a dark, yet focused bite leaning towards the treble range. I play through a very high-gain setup and notice feedback occaisionally, but it hasnt been a serious issue for me.
