Shit... The whole album can be downloaded from the net...

Hey,

first of all, congratulations on a good album guys. I got it from the guys at Earache US, and I`ve enjoyed listening to it several times, and even got my gf to play it at her restaurant a while ago. But, on to the subject: It is a non-contestable fact that distributing albums over the net will result in a decrease of album sales. This obviously results in less money earned in sales-royalties for both bands and labels. But, and this is the key issue here, it is also a non-contestable fact that spreading MP3s raises band-awereness a lot. Even though there may be a small percentage of people, like myself, who actually buy the albums after downloading them, you will find a lot of these people attending concerts, listening to radio-shows with these bands, wathcing music-videos etc, which eventually help raise more money for the people involved. These days record companies are very aware of securing their share of royalties regarding publishing- and live-performance fees.

For me, as member & manager of Lunaris, my goal is to make music that reach people. If that can result in me earning money of it, fine, but to experience crowds of people waiting for the experience to watch us perform, is something much bigger and more important. In the end this will eventually raise funds for both artist & company, and this is where our common focus should be. MP3s are here to stay, we just have to make the best out of it...

Thankies Ray for you congratulations. I think everyone is right within his own range. Earning money from what you sell is not the very omportant issue in what we do I agree but still we do care about that. You probably will be surprised but in Russia WE HAVE TO PAY to play a concert. So sometimes when you have no cash to buy a bloody cord for your guitar you start to think about that stuff... That some ass holes make a really good piece of what we've done... and even a moron who sells our songs mp3encoded has more than we do... It is a difficult situation though and a civilized market simply can not be compared to barbarian ones... and there are too many of them!:(

If it weren't for MP3's I would have never found out about Forest Stream. Yes, I download whole albums. If I like the music, I buy CDs or trade for them. Otherwise I delete the files. I didn't download FS album in whole though, just some tracks from MP3.com, but they were enough to convince me and I ordered the CD. :flame:

Hm! With strength we burn! Okay... so let's say mp3isation is a good stuff in general! But in particular... it sucks?:) Right?!

I havent downloaded the new album by Forest Stream and i dont plan to. I have a job now (tomorrow is my third days work) and plan to buy it as soon as i can. I just bought the new Apocalyptica album today (without d/ling one mp3 off it. :p) I wish Forest Stream would be in the record stores here (Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada) iv checked everywhere and havent seen any. Can you only buy in online? if so i'll have to lower my cerdit card bill before buying it.
