I don't think so. I like the growling vocals from time to time, but I felt they were used too much on Demonic and The Gathering. All the best songs on The Gathering were the ones with the less growls in my opinion.

I agree with Deadly, The Gathering had a nice mix of it all, with both death and thrash vocals, and also had a good fresh feel to it.

Get rid of any growls and replace them with his aggressive metal singing he used on the first 5 albums. Also bring back the ballad so we can hear him sing properly, they write cracking power ballads.

I would like to see the same variety of singing that was on The Gathering, alittle of everything................

I voted MORE grunts if you want to call them that .... however the same as the Gathering is perfectly fine.

I agree, both singing styles are good on the Gathering and I think Chuck will continue with that style on the next record. But more power is always better :D I totally disagree that the "growling" should be less. It has become a trademark of Chuck's and think some of the best songs are WITH the "death" style singing. (ie: Fall of Sipledome, Legions of the Dead , DNR, etc ...) The power of his death growls and singing are a serious force and to take them away would leave the music less powerful. :heh:

hmm. it seems that ppl want The Gathering Part 2 seeing that the last option has the most votes.
I would like the new album to be minimalistic in growling, just like the FSSD album. I believe Eric said the new album is gonna be in 'The Gathering' and old school thrash vein. If it's gonna have a lot of Testament old school thrashier elements which can be found on their earlier records and FSSD then FUCK YEAH!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
But if it's The Gathering Part 2, then meh...

Don't forget ppl, Testament are NOT a death metal band, they are thrash metal. If growling is all u want then there is Testament Demonic album and also there is death metal. I'm not up for the Testament to be a crossover band (ex. black-death/thrash, black/thrash, death/thrash) at all!!!

Love Chuck's growls! He's got a KILLER death metal growl. This coming from an old school Testament fan who has always loved Chuck's growls...even when they were few and far between on Practice and New Order. I remember wishing he'd do it more back then...he's just so powerful sounding!

I like the growls...in smaller doses. I would really like to see Chuck scream those high notes like he did in the early days...Over! The! WAAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!!!

Agreed:Shedevil: I love that scream which is done like no one other than Chuck Billy:headbang:

There should be at least as many growls. Most extreme growling I dont like much, but Chuck has the best voice in metal, he can carry it off.
My one hope is that they speed the albulm up, a bit more speed, slightly less groove.

But they're the ones who know what they are doing.
