Showcase Next Year...

Riverside would also be a really amazing choice. I'd be very, very happy with that.

I really do hope it's a prog band in order to even out the headliners. Personally, I would love to see Pain of Salvation...but Riverside would be an amazing choice too. Then again if it ends up being another regularly touring power metal band it would really draw in even more people from outside the forum. For example, if Edguy (who I would love as well) was announced and the whole fests headliners were Edguy, Kamelot and Hammerfall I could see a lot of people losing their minds. I will be happy with either way really.

Love some of the suggestions. My own desires would include:

3
Kiuas
Vanden Plas
Astral Doors
LanFear
Day Six
Cynic

Scale the Summit.
--Since I have AGAIN managed not to see them at a show. (I thought they were one of the openers for Gojira....?)

While we're at it, heck:

Devin Townsend -- If his upcoming tour's timing coincides. :)
Equilibrium -- contractually required to play "Mana" in its entirety.

how about having it called "The Showcase of Death"
Immortal
Scar Symmetry
Borknagar
Destruction
Sodom

Dunno if I'd call Destruction a "death" metal band...Immortal or Scar Symmetry or Borknagar either, for that matter. :)

Immortal
Scar Symmetry
Borknagar
Equilibrium

:heh:

(Those aren't 'death' bands either.....but they ARE good ones.)

I think Vanden Plas is the obvious answer for headliner. Many have stated them, and I think they are perfect for PPUSA. Not only are they "proggy" enough to satisfy the prog fans, but they have strong choruses with big hooks that are "sing along" if you will, as well as plenty of crunchy guitar work via Stephan that should appeal to many of the power fans. I would also love to see Urban do some more lethal mic stand tricks fronting Bloodound as well.

Those two would be a nice prog/power combination, I think.......
