Met some guy that made me aware of the Shure SM48.
It should have the same capsule as the 58 or beta58 and is only 49 .
Well that needed to be tested!
I don't have an beta58, but I compared it to the SM58 at the same position infront of a Mesa cab, 5153.
First the SM58 then the SM48 changing every 4 or 8 beats.

SM48 is brighter but sounds very usable to me.
Maybe a mic to recommend when the next cheapass band wants a mic, but the 57/58 is too expensive for them
