Shure sm57 and cymbals

Did anyone try to use an sm57 for micing some cymbals? (for example china, hit hat or ride)
I think 40hz - 15000hz range is not so good for the hi frequencies typical of cymbals, right?

i haven't specifically used an sm57, but i did use a cheapass peavey starpower dynamic for a mono drum overhead, it sounded pretty shitty, but that's what we were going for.

I would avoid using any dynamic mic as an overhead. And you definately want a mic that goes up to at least 18khz to mic cymbals

Some guys like the SM57 on hihat. Haven't tried it myself but I have used SM7B on hihat and it's pretty good.

I had surprisingly great results once using an Audix i5 on china..
It was the only one left and we had to mike the china because it wasn't cutting through enough as it was broken...
Hmm. maybe that's why it sounded good?
Have to give it a shot again!

I remember we used sm57 on hihat and splashes when we recorded our album with Stormcrow, and it came out very nice. But of course with condensers as OH

Yeah actually I have 2 oktava for Ohs and I'm thinking if I can use my sm57 for HH or Ride
