What are some other cd trackers? I know about deadformat.com and discogs.com but I'd like to know what some of you guys use.

Recently I've been considering developing a new website for this purpose. It would be something straightforward, simple, and solid. The main problem I foresee is the lack of an open database for end-users to automatically add CD's from. You would have to manually type in each entry. Would there be any interest in this?

I'm not even 100% sure of what a "Cd Tracker" is??

Because you're stupid?

Oh yes, I would surely use it. I have a lot of ideas also, as recordnerd had a lot of problems. Obvious stuff like being able to add in all your cd's for one artist, if that makes sense.

What's your problem? You're insults towards me are what's really stupid. I don't know what it is. That's not a stupid question. I thought it was a place where you buy CDs, but I'm not sure.

i just type my stuff in Word. i started doing this when i had like 30 cds so it wasn't a pain in the ass like it would be for me now that i have around 600.

I have a more immediate solution, as well, if anyone is so inclined. If you are familiar with FTP, I can set you up a sub-domain of kvlt.us (a domain I own) where you can upload your own html or plain text CD/Record/whatever list. You will always have access to the sub-domain and can really do whatever you want with it. PM if interested.

Hey guys,

I've actually been thinking (for a while now) of developing a full blown site as well. Something that let's you post reviews, track your collection, flag CDs for trade/sell/want, seelct what format you have it in, let you rate certain aspects of it if you wish (production, overall, art, musicianship, lyrics, etc. etc.) and really make it well thought out and comprehensive. Of course there is much more as far as features but that was a quick list.

How about we turn this thread into what features would you want out of a site like this?

Hope I'm not stepping on your toes Kil!

No, sounds good actually. I've just been annoyed lately with some basic flaws in all such sites, so I was going to take some initiative. What you're describing, however, is a feat I wouldn't have nearly enough time to accomplish.

One feature that is absolutely essential to me is the quick add feature that cd-tracker has that allows you to add several entries at a time. It's excruciating to add entries in one by one.

It sounds like a good idea, but wouldn't it take forever to get something like that up & running & get many to know about your site? If you do it I would post my collection there.
