Single coil tone...which mic sounds best (clip)

Hmm. I tried blending the 2nd and 3rd one (2nd mic 100% right, 3rd mic 100% left), you can hear that here. Oddly enough, Neb, at first I thought the first mic was the best out of the 4, but after trying all 4 repeatedly, it seems to have the *worst* high-end.

Would you like to reveal what mics were used yet, or do you want some more unbiased opinions?

Going beyond the fear of looking dumb (if im wrong), i'm gona go out on a limb and try guess what mic each clip was: SM 57, E609, MD421, i5
Based on the poplular mics around here.

I'd say that 3 has the most appealing high end to me, though that might be because its duller than the rest. 1 seemed to be the most "balanced" to my ears (really need a better word than balanced). The others just had lowmid/ mid energy that i didn't quite like.
What's that high farting/ fizzing/ headache inducing thing gonig on with the tone?

Fizzing? That's just the buzzing from the OD I'm using to get the tone altogether. It's a blues-rock kinda thing, heh. MP3 conversion amplifies it a little.

Interesting choices on the mics. I've got a huge grin on my face because something just happened that I had no intention of. I'm curious to have some other people guess the mics before I say what they were.

I liked sm57 the first one the most. second one was too dark, md421 was boomy and neumann just was way too harsh
