Six year girl handcuffed by police

Only handcuffed? Mace all people!

Edit: Srly, this fucking crazy.

the school called the police because some 6-year-old kid throws some books around? i could think of around 10 better courses of action they could have took instead of that without being a childcare professional.

the police most certainly aren't of the sort, so i wouldn't blame them so much for going a bit overboard with this. they might have interpreted the situation to be much worse than it really was, again because they were actually called in to arrest a 6-year-old at pre-school. what has the world come to?

or, maybe this is the outcome of the generation's disgustingly overprotective parents. you can't even touch a child without getting sued by the parents because their sweetie is a saint and perfect in every way, and children know this and abuse it to do whatever they want. maybe, just maybe, this is a good thing. but we don't know the specifics.

^The specifics, that's what's missing here, so I can't judge based on her age alone. I've seen/known some children that would make me question the existence of demonic possession. (not literally, you know what I mean) There are some really bad little shits out there.

We have a bingo!!!

Definitely this, if a teacher touches a kid they play the "The teacher hit me" card and the teacher is likely to lose their job if the school is a POS.

Very turbulent, violent, possessed, whatever, its impossible to defend. Its not like she was 15.

If the local authorities arent flexible enough, its fucked up.

I read she was not in à cell per say but a mental room for evaluation

I just clicked on it and read the article ^. Here's a quote for you:

A girl of six has been handcuffed by police and thrown in a jail cell in the US after throwing a tantrum at school.

Kindergarten student Salecia Johnson, of Milledgeville, Georgia, is accused of throwing books and toys during the outburst.

According to a police report, the child allegedly knocked over a small shelf which hit the principal of Creekside Elementary School in the leg, injuring her.

She also jumped on a paper shredder and tried to break a glass frame, the report continued

The school called in the police and an officer handcuffed the young girl when she refused to calm down.

She was taken down to the police station where she was charged with simple assault and damage to property.

Salecia’s parents have now demanded that local authorities change their detention policies so that other children aren't treated the same way.

Police defended their actions saying their response to the tantrum was a ‘safety measure’.

Police chief Dray Swicord told local television station WMAZ-TV: “Our policy states that any detainee transported to our station in a patrol vehicle is to be handcuffed in the back and there is no age discrimination on that rule.”

Salecia’s family said the youngster was shaken up by her prison ordeal, with aunt Candace Ruff telling WMAZ-TV that she and her mother found her in a holding cell when they went to collect her.

However, police maintain that she was taken to a squad room, not a holding cell.

Her aunt said: “We would not like to see this happen to another child, because it's horrifying. It's devastating.”

Because of her age, the young girl will not have to go to court.

But in addition to the criminal charges, Salecia is suspended from school until August.

Anyway, it seems like the child went completely bananas and was difficult to control. I don't really see a problem with how it was handled. They took her somewhere else where she could be controlled until the parents could come pick up their little shit child. The handcuffs might have been unnecessary but I am betting they helped in keeping that kid somewhat controlled. She knocked over a shelf which injured someone, tried to destroy a glass frame and paper shredder, as well as threw books and toys. Kid needs a good old fashioned ass whipping if you ask me. And of course the parents make it out like the police and school were the bad guys here. Pfft.. figures. Like someone already said, there is far too much of the "my child is an angel" mentality these days. People need to realize their kids suck and/or they suck at parenting, start placing the blame properly. Not to mention that mentality leads to them usually blowing things out of proportion too, like the parents in this case saying she was in a holding cell - a squad room is not a holding cell, in order to avoid the blame. Fuckers, the lot of them.

I still think it's abit extreme to handcuff a six year old girl in kindergarten. But everything's possible in the land of hope and glory. I know from personal experience in my youth that police officers can be total shitheads too and you can do nothing about it, they have all the power.

from what I understand handcuffing seems to be what causes less of a shitstorm compared to other stuff that could have been done, but I also think a teacher acts against the law if he/she holds down a child or locks it somewhere else, so that it isn't a danger to other kids anymore. therefore calling the police seems to be the only legal choice...as dumb as it sounds lol
