Skate punk (Revalver + SD2 drums)

the vocals seem low in the mix and seem dry. but i dont know this genre, maybe they are supposed to be dry.the mix sounds good, everything sounds good but for some reason the whole mix all together seems a little muffled to me.

First impression: Weird; it's like the whole mix is going through a filter. It sounds very thin, no low end, mostly mids. Reminds me of sometimes I'll check a mix by running an impulse on the master to simulate playback on different speakers. Thought it was on purpose at the beginning as an effect, kept waiting for the lows to kick in. Anything to do with the mp3 encoding, maybe?

Don't get me wrong, the mix is really good. (just thin) The instruments levels are well balanced, great clarity & dynamics. Vocals are good, wouldn't change much of anything. Guitars maybe cut the fizz slightly more.

Great song! Wish it was longer....

hahah good call jeff. This was a pre-production while his drummer learns the tracks. We'll be using real amps next month too.

Pickasso, thanks for the feedback! For low-end, I was experimenting with using the Sansamp as the buzz, and the di file (with MaxBass) as the deep part. I did cut out 40hz in the master-bus cuz I thought it needed it at the time. I'm getting some treatment this week (Primacoustic London 12a, Nimbus Cloud, Radiator diffuser) - so I'll adjust accordingly after it's all installed.

thanks again guys, any criticism/advice is welcome!
