Slate Blackbird Samples

Yeah I love these samples!
They are unique and very tweakable!
I'm working on another demo now with a softer bluesy, folky sound.
Maybe after that I'll do a metal demo!

I made a little metal demo for you guys:

drums only:

I like the sound of this but obviously the samples are very tweakable to suit your preferences!
For instance, I have all the Room sounds on to make it sound big.
You can also get very different more 'dry' sounds if you like.
Also blending and EQing these works like a charm!

sounds pretty great on those latest mixes!!
the original dry samples on their website didnt got me interested in getting this sample pack, but those latest mixes really do

Can somebody put up a clip with blast beats? I`m still not sold on the velocities. I think Superior SDX`s are still the way to go for realism although those samples sound damn good and I appreciate the work that was put into the product.

the new clips on slate's site sound awesome and sound WAY more realistic than any other libraries. the range of sounds is also awesome. I'm sure I'll pick these up down the line. the only thing I thought was strange was the ridiculous amount of low end in those demos. awesome to record but I can't think of any mix where you could get away with that much low end before your headroom completely goes.

I get the impression these samples weren't designed with blast beats in mind (although thats not to say it wouldn't be possible).

Bought these today. They're awesome, just awesome. I'd say, the best SSD library I ever heard. Great blending possibilities, and that low end is so aesthetically...beautiful:)

They're definitely not too clicky (some really cracky snares though). Will be great for "commercial" rock and metal.

Here, I took a random blast beat loop from EZDrummer and threw Blackbird kick, snare and toms on it. With and without room mics:

The low end isn't a problem at all!
It's definitely there if you need or want it but it's easy to get rid of.
The OH mics have quite some low end and sub in there so I recommend EQing those mics.
Also the Sub and FX sliders can add or subtract a lot of nice warm lows!

Thanks. This confirms my impression. I would use these killer sounding samples for blending with real drums but not on itself in a production with lots of fast double bass, blast beats and tom&snare rolls.
