I enjoyed everything post Once, and maybe a but of the instrumentation/Marco on DPP but Anette is really not cut out for Nightwish. They should pick up Floor, but then that would mean less of her on Ayreon and that makes me more sad

Agree, Anette can't cut it, especially live, prefer to hear Marco sing rather than Anette. Floor would be perfect, she's definitely got the pipes! (and she's sexy guys!). Poor Floor is having a breakdown, she announced this last week, ReVamp just cancelled their Latin American tour because of it. She is killer live, her old band After Forever were awesome too and I love her stuff with Ayreon.

Due to the "three chances" thread, I just discovered Epica. I've probably noticed them before, but simply dismissed them (and now feel like a douche) due to their name sounding typically flower metallish or something like Kamelot.

They are pretty much everything that I liked about Nightwish, except all of the time--not just for half of an album. Due to the production (over production?) and their guitar distortion, I can't help but think of a very loose cross between Nightwish, Nevermore and Opeth (Not just because of the death elements either. The growls sound more like Dark Tranquility anyway). Then again, "Design Your Universe" is said to be their heaviest, and first to add solos. I haven't listened to their back catalog yet, so maybe they will be spoiled by this album.
