slipknot, 9.0 live

I completly disagree. Corey can sing. Listen to Circle, Vermillion Part 2, or any of his other melodic parts in his song. He just chooses to shout more. Plus he has way more talent then any Death or Black Metal artist. All they do is make incomprehsible growls into a mike half the time. The guitarist is a wicked guitarist who plays more then just powerchords (read previous posts on that subject). The drummer is also considered one of the best drummers (not the best, one of the best) in today's metal scene.

Corey totaly fucked up his voice. He put so much in the Self-titled album and Iowa that he just can't give much more unless his vocal cords collaps, it's a shame really

Well doing the deep growling hurts my vocals especialy considering I'm not used to it. Dunno why, but my throat gets real sore after doing growling for long periods of time. And high notes are used in black metal and death metal, but not as frequently as in Slipknot. I can do high growly/screamy but high melodic.... I find that harder.

As for mean guitarist, I believe he is a good guitarist. Not as good as some, but he still is a good guitarist.

i would say black metal uses more high growls then low growls...

and please he isnt a good guitarist. ill even give you a chance to prove it to me, give my a clip or something of his playing and ill look at it with an open mind.

And if your voice is hurting, make sure your drinking a ton of water and you warm up before singing.

-im giving advice to you only due to the fact that i think you'll grow out of slipknot.

Milk w/ honey owns.

yea it does, but i think its important to get used to water. I mean when your playing live or whatever your not always gonna have tea, milk, or whatever you like to drink.

Dont try being cool by drinking hard alcohol or something. A beer or so is fine but dont over do it. There is nothing more worse for your name then to go around making an idiot of yourself.

Not that your reputation matters much, there are always going to be assholes who hate you for no reason, but still. Going on stage drunk isnt a good way to get a fanbase.

Just because I listen to Slipknot doesn't mean I can't respect other styles of music. Slipknot isn't my main listening group. Lately I've been listening to Dimmu Borgir, Tool, and Dark Funeral mostly.

Mmm... I guess he sounds pretty ragged on 9.0 Live. But not realy in a bad way. I don't see how his vocals are killed though.
I didn't mean it's bad but if he has to do an album like Iowa again, he could loose his voice permenantly

Yeah Corey did put some amazing vocals on s/t and Iowa but now his voice is a little bit different. Let's face it, if he will lose his voice completely that means he can't sing. There are special methods that defends the singer from the loss of his voice. It will be a shame if Corey will lose his voice. Just like Leech from KSE. He gave a god damn vox on KSE two first albums.
