Hi guys, I have 2 sm57, yesterday I tried to record some guitar tracks for a new my band's song..I noticed that ther is a difference between the 2 sm57.....one of this have more open sound and higs in it, and one have a more smoth sound....have you ever noticed that? is normall that 2 mics of the same model sounds different?

yeah.
a moving coil mic is pretty much the same as a speaker...just used the other way 'round.

everybody knows how different speakers (although same make and model) can sound....same with mics of course.

I have tried yesterday to track distorted guitars with the same mic position with an octopre le and with an m audio octane......the sound is the same but when the palm mutes arrived..the octane works better than the octopre, more defined and toght sound.....I'll post clips when I have some times.
