I recently bought a shure sm7b and I realize it has low output. Have any of you guys used one with the saffire pro 40 or do you find it's just not good enough. My solution would be to get a cloudlifter but I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to. Also, do you guys use any of the eq on the sm7b with vocals? Do you use the highpass and presence boost on it?

In my experience with that mic you're going to need a preamp to really push the sm7b. I normally boost some high end since dynamic mics don't have the nice top end that most condensers do.
